Clara
you made their Day. My
daughter Natalie Persons teaches in New Orleans. She went there at
first for a temporary stay as a member of Teach For America, a non-profit
dedicated to placing top college graduates in under-resourced classrooms.
She lost her apartment and all of her belongings due to Katrina.
Needless to say, she stayed on and chose to remain in New Orleans teaching.
She loves the climate, and she especially loves her students. In
the beginning of March, she asked me to digitize a design for her class
on t-shirts she had bought. I asked on a few Embroidery Boards of
which I am a member if there was somebody who was willing to volunteer
to embroider 28 t-shirts. One person responded: Clara Hughes
from McKean, PA. She embroidered the t-shirts, included a blow pop
for each one of my daughter's students, and sent them back. The students
were ecstatic! Here are some pictures of the kids wearing their beautifully
designed t-shirts. There is even a picture of the students holding
up a trophy
their class had won from a spirit rally.
